KPFA's License is held by the Pacifica Foundation

KPFA's license holder is the Pacifica Foundation. The Pacifica National Board has full legal responsibility and authority for KPFA.
With few exceptions, Pacifica National Board meetings are open to the public when happening locally, and streamed live on the internet when happening as phone conferences.

KPFA has a Local Station Board which is responsible for local governance.

Among other duties, the LSB oversees the mananagement, finances and budget of KPFA.
With few exceptions, KPFA Local Station Board meetings are open to the public, and the public is invited to attend.

KPFA also has a Community Advisory Board.

This board reviews the programming schedule, budgets and assists with long term plans of the station. The CAB is made up of listeners to KPFA who donate their time.
Meetings are open to the public, and the public is invited to attend.
